About Us

Organization Profile

UMMA (United Marine Manufacturers Association, Inc.) is an organization of independent boat-builders, which, while operating autonomously, have joined together to enhance their collective competitiveness and to address important industry issues which effect their survival and continued prosperity.

The mission of the UMMA is to empower the independent builder in order to survive in a highly competitive and changing industry. We provide services and information to our Members that improve their operational efficiencies and help level the purchasing playing field. As a semi-cooperative organization, collective benefits are achieved which exceed the individual capacities of any single Member.

Member Profile

UMMA powerboat Members produce a wide variety of quality aluminum and fiberglass boats ranging in size from 8 feet to 50+ feet in length in the categories of salt and freshwater fishing, runabouts, cruising, yachts, pontoon and deck boats, houseboats, and performance boats.

Corporate Information

The organization was formally launched in June of 1995. The operation of the Association has been established as completely autonomous from its Membership. The Association President and operational contracting party, Kent Wooldridge, also serves as UMMA’s attorney. UMMA’s corporate office is located at 714 South National, Springfield, Missouri 65804.

Affiliate Organizations

UMSA (United Marine Suppliers Association)

UMSA represents a parallel organization of the preferred suppliers to the UMMA boat builders. In addition to receiving purchasing priority from the UMMA builders, UMSA suppliers work hand in hand to enhance and grow business between the parties.

In addition, UMSA encourages its Members to purchase, whenever possible, from each other and to pool their resources together with UMMA to the collective benefit of all parties. In addition to sharing business opportunities, UMSA and UMMA work together in support of NMMA’s efforts to address the common threats of government intrusion into areas which adversely impact the industry.

In order to advance all joint initiatives, each October, UMSA joins UMMA as co-sponsors of their annual “Partnership” Conference, which brings the decision makers from all of the parties together to work to resolve problems and to work toward mutual goals.
